Archetype SC will showcase its A2 Analytics technology at the Volaire Air Service Forum in Myrtle Beach this week.

The Volaire Air Service Forum is an exclusive event for businesses in the airline industry, with representatives scheduled to attend from more than 50 airports, a dozen airlines, and many other businesses that support air travel. Volaire Aviation Consulting, an airline recruitment, air service expansion, and marketing company, hosted its first Volaire Air Service Forum in 2017 in Pasco, Washington. This year’s event is hosted by the Myrtle Beach International Airport and will take place at the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Myrtle Beach.

Archetype SC will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with each business attending the Volaire Air Service Forum, introducing its A2 Analytics technology to airports and airlines across the country. In addition to meetings, the Volaire Air Service Forum will feature informative talks on the development of air service, alternative data sources, and how to market hub airports.

A2 Analytics is a groundbreaking technology that puts data and insights into the hands of airports and airlines, helping to transform their customer experience. A combination of easy-to-install sensors with a scalable cloud infrastructure powered by unique algorithms, A2 Analytics has been successfully implemented at the Myrtle Beach International Airport to monitor TSA wait times. In addition to monitoring wait times, A2 Analytics can be used to track movement through an airport, usage of restroom facilities for janitorial services, and optimization of concessions through route mapping.

The Volaire Air Service Forum will take place March 14-16 at the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Myrtle Beach. Be sure to keep up with Archetype SC’s tweets from the event by following on Twitter.

Archetype SC has signed a contract to perform operational support of a customer’s RSA SecurID and RSA Authentication Manager multi-factor authentication solution. Our resources will act as Level 2 and Level 3 support working in a team in which the customer and another security entity will provide Level 1, Level 4, and Delivery Lead staff.

The scope of the project includes management of more than 2,000 soft tokens, four RSA servers, two applications including VMware and Cisco AnyConnect. Archetype SC will perform token management and end-user support, along with infrastructure device monitoring and management with 24/7 support.

To begin the project, Archetype SC performed a health assessment that reviewed both processes and device configuration, which will allow the team to perform optimization activities to improve both.

The security team is interfacing through email and telephone directly with the customer, other security engineers, and end users.

Archetype SC is able to perform this work as a monthly managed security service with a monthly service charge that allows the client to have an up-front expectation of cost. This is much easier for the customer to manage and forecast cost for a steady state operational service such as this.

The 2018 expo was the first for Archetype SC as a member of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, allowing the company to re-introduce itself to the local market in a big way, with more than 80 local businesses and the public in attendance at the event.

"We are excited to have participated in the Chamber's Member-to-Member Business Expo," said Joseph Bonanno, President of Archetype SC.  Two of Archetype SC’s security engineers advanced their learning at the SANS Institute’s Security Operations Center (SOC) Solutions Brief in Boston on Nov. 17.

The engineers learned from Chris Crowley, SANS Principal Instructor and SOC Course Author, who presented a lecture on SOC Use Case Development. His message centered on using the SOC effectively, by ensuring the business knows what the SOC needs to accomplish to achieve success.

Along with SANS lecture, there were talks given by Recorded Future, DomainTools, and Authentic8 on a variety of topics in the cybersecurity space.

“(Nick Espinoza of Authentic8) used a use case that involved a customer from the financial services industry and he walked us through a particular threat intel feed signal and what was done to follow that lead,” said Layth Batyne, an Archetype SC security engineer. “It was interesting to note that cookies and web analytics are being repurposed by the adversaries so your digital fingerprint needs to be taken into account when you are accessing adversary controlled infrastructure.”

Recorded Future’s Diana Granger gave an update on ransomware variants and campaign trends, which centered on hunting for malware, rather than monitoring and triaging events on the network. Granger’s premise of having a team of threat hunters as part of a SOC fell in line with being “proactive, not reactive” in cybersecurity.

Archetype SC’s engineers left the half-day conference with new ideas on how to improve a SOC and what it takes to have a comprehensive SOC offering, from responding to events to hunting out adversaries in a network.

“While this wasn’t a very long conference, it packed a lot of great information into a short amount of time,” said Archetype SC’s Brian Messier on the SANS SOC Solutions Brief. “It is always helpful to hear from other security professionals, to hear different methods and technologies that can help us in what we do every day.”

Along with the knowledge, Archetype SC’s engineers were able to network with other security focused peers and company representatives.

While attending the IBM Cloud & Cognitive Summit in Dallas on Nov. 13 and 14, Archetype SC managing partner Usman Khan was blown away by the event, from the quality of presentations to the varied list of companies in attendance.

"This was a really well run event, it was very much worth attending," Khan said. "I met a lot of IBM experts and developed relationships with quite a few other attendees that may lead to work in the future. That's a huge bonus at a conference where the knowledge you gain is so valuable."

In particular, Khan enjoyed the keynote to begin the summit, where he heard from innovators of IBM Hybrid Cloud, IBM Private Cloud, and IBM Cognitive Systems, among others.

"The keynote really hit on the points that IBM has a vision for cognitive development and how the Cloud is continuing to change the world," Khan said. "It was incredible to see some of IBM's offerings in action and to see that they are on the cutting edge of what's going on in cloud and cognitive development."

Another highlight was the closing address from Guy Kawasaki, a legendary former Apple employee who spoke about the art of disruption to the Cloud & Cognitive Summit crowd.

Archetype SC's engineers heard from industry leaders on the panel and learned how cutting edge technology like Securonix and SentinelOne can help mitigate some of the future threats.

J.R. Manes, a Special Agent with the FBI, gave a presentation that featured a lot of "personality and humor" that helped remove some of the stigma associated with working with the FBI on cyberthreats, according to Archetype SC's engineers. The information presented by the FBI also gave a brief look at how the organization investigates threats and hacks.

Overall, the Archetype SC team considered the Boston Cyber Security Summit an excellent conference with a wealth of information and networking opportunities. Along with the knowledge gained, the team also left with toy swords, courtesy of conference title sponsor Plixer.
