Patrick Nord Brings AI Risk Insights to the UNC Charlotte Cybersecurity Symposium

On October 1, the UNC Charlotte Cybersecurity Symposium, co-hosted with the Charlotte Metro ISSA, takes over campus for two days of sharp perspectives, practical sessions, and face-to-face exchange. Now in its 25th year, the symposium has become one of the region’s anchor events during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, blending academic insight with real-world expertise from security leaders.

We’re bringing our perspective to the stage as well. Vice President of Professional Services Patrick Nord will speak on AI Insider Threat, a subject he sees evolving faster than many security teams are prepared for. What he’s looking forward to sharing is how AI changes the definition of an “insider.” It’s not just employees anymore: autonomous agents and AI-powered tools extend reach and decision-making in ways that open new risks. Patrick’s session dives into why this shift is both a challenge and an opportunity, pushing organizations to rethink detection, access, and trust.
